Eighty four percent of threatened and endangered species with recovery plans are conservation reliant.  Conservation reliant species are those for which threats can be managed but not eliminated. Even if recovery goals are achieved, conservation reliant species will continue to require management intervention to sustain recovery for the foreseeable future. I will provide examples of conservation reliant species, management requirements, and supporting policies needed to delist them, and I will discuss benefits and risks of delisting conservation reliant species.
