Roundtable: Joint Management of Grazing Ungulates and Forest Ecosystems--Advances, Insights, and Future Directions

Monday, August 5, 2013: 8:00 PM-10:00 PM
Board Rm 3, Hilton Minneapolis
Organizer:
Thomas P. Rooney, Wright State University
Join members of the Forest Ungulate Research Network in a roundtable discussion to learn about efforts underway internationally to sustainably manage ungulate populations and forest ecosystems. The session will consist of four ten-minute presentations, each highlighting a project or initiative that examines the successes and failures in attempting to manage for both forests and large grazing ungulates. Each presentation will conclude with one or two questions for further discussion. These questions will be made available to all participants prior to the start of the session. At the conclusion of all presentations, a facilitator will moderate a discussion of the posed questions and to identify new questions. Our focus is on providing new sets of scientifically based principles and solutions for integrated wildlife, forest and landscape management.
