America’s coasts are being affected by the impacts of climate change.  Sea-level rise and storm surge threaten homes, ports, roads, and water and energy infrastructure.  Temperature change, ocean acidification, and other impacts are affecting coastal ecosystems, leading to the loss of valuable services on which people depend.  Social vulnerability of coastal communities varies – leading to differences in exposure and ability to adapt.  While, in many cases, obstacles to adaptation remain, individuals and communities across the Nation are already taking action to enhance their preparedness and resilience.
