Six North Carolina A&T State University faculty members have visited successful interdisciplinary centers and programs across USA in order to extract information used to attract students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders to these programs to achieve an enrollment increase in interdisciplinary programs, centers and institutes. While some information can be found via the Internet, it has been the experience of team members that site visits are very helpful when establishing interdisciplinary environmental units. The poster presentation will highlight questions about how environmental programs, centers, institutes were developed, what they do, and how interdisciplinary activities function including staffing and funding. The lessons learned from visits to successful interdisciplinary universities will contribute to the strategic vision of interdisciplinary environmental units.
