Obtaining funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) is always a challenge for ecologists, and more so when they apply to the many programs offered by the NSF’s Education and Human Resources Directorate. How do you go about writing these grants? Who do you contact for help? What elements are important? Are these proposals significantly different than research proposals? Who reviews these grants? This session is designed to assist you in successfully obtaining funding to support your students, to integrate education activities with your research and to support ecological education at your institutions. ESA researchers funded by EHR programs such as GK-12, TPC, CCLI, and others will share their experiences and will provide some strategies on how to apply to these grants. ESA researchers will be joined by NSF program officers who will describe relevant opportunities for funding within EHR and provide insights into the goals and procedures of some key programs.
