It is no longer possible to consider science education as restricted to disciplinary, local, and limited perspectives. We have entered the global ecology era and dramatic examples are found in the relationship of human infectious diseases with the environment, climate, and seasonality.
Results/Conclusions
Vector and water borne diseases provide illustration of how interconnected is all biodiversity and how global sensors and monitoring by satellite, as well as genomic sequence data, can provide interpretation of John Muir's words (paraphrased): " When one tugs on any one thing in the universe, one finds it connected to everything else...". Illustrations will be provided, describing selected vector and water transmitted diseases in their ecological settings.
