SS 12 - Film Screening of "Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives: The Environmental Footprint of War"
Using specialist and eyewitness accounts from Vietnam and Afghanistan to Australia and the Pacific Islands, illustrated by on-site and archival footage, the documentary film "Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives" shows how war and preparations for war affect the environment of a planet already under stress from human population growth and demands for natural resources. The screening will be followed by a discussion. There are tentative plans to have the filmmakers, Alice and Lincoln Day, present at the session.
