National Science Foundation (NSF) program directors from the Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) and from related programs will discuss sources of funding for environmental research, including the core research-funding programs within DEB and other research and educational programs in the Directorate for Biological Sciences as well as in other NSF directorates. The current status of each program and target dates for proposal submission will be shown. Key aspects of the peer review process and suggestions for writing successful research proposals will also be discussed. More importantly, program directors will provide honest answers to questions regarding NSF funding for ecological research. Our goal is to provide insight into the opportunities and process for obtaining NSF support for environmental research and education projects.
