Background/Question/Methods
In exploring how ecological research can contribute and aid to societal goals of sustainability and justice, this talk will present demographic and cultural data on how communities across the United States have become increasingly isolated through generational, political, religious, economic and other cultural divides. These divides have inhibited progress towards the aforementioned sustainability goals for the country and have affected its leadership around the world.
In exploring how ecological research can contribute and aid to societal goals of sustainability and justice, this talk will present demographic and cultural data on how communities across the United States have become increasingly isolated through generational, political, religious, economic and other cultural divides. These divides have inhibited progress towards the aforementioned sustainability goals for the country and have affected its leadership around the world.
Results/Conclusions
The presentation will also discuss potential solutions for collaboration and sustainable development through participatory action research. Video clips of research performed through “The Perennials Project” will be shown to provide examples of leaders across the country who are bridging cultural divides to develop sustainable communities.
