The best way to explore Portland is by bicycle and also one of the best ways to visit natural areas that are undergoing ecological restoration. We will visit Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge and Mt. Tabor Park, both providing excellent wildlife habitat within the City. On the tour we will see floodplain forest and wetland habitats as well as upland conifer habitats. City nesting eagles, osprey, falcons and herons will be seen. The City's Watershed Revegetation Program has been restoring over 2,000 acres of natural areas within the city and has planted over 3 million trees. These two sites are part of this innovative program's restoration sites, using science to improve wildlife habitat and ecosystem processes.

Registration Fee: $50

Equipment and Attire: Please wear clothes that will be comfortable for riding a bike. Dress for the weather. People should be in moderate physical condition. Total biking distance is 17 miles including one moderate climb and one downhill. Bringing a backpack for the lunch will be helpful.
