Implementing organismal sampling at NEON: Early experiences

Background/Question/Methods: Observatory organismal sampling protocols are currently in development as the observatory is rolling out into varying ecosystems. With that scientific protocol development and implementation come new questions on the logistics of implementing those protocols.
Results/Conclusions: Organismal sampling protocols must be customized based on logistics and site specific environmental factors across the Observatory while still maintaining a consistent approach to reduce overall variability between sites. Early experiences indicate that a managed roll out of organismal sampling sites within the observatory will result in the most robust datasets from early operational sites.
