In our formative years, most of us have a moment when we realize that our favorite idea might look even better if some particular data weren't in the way. And then we come to realize that a recalcitrant data set is not a road block, but a gift, a road sign. It is nature telling us to pay attention, that the truth lies another direction. When we  listen, we better tune our ideas to reality, and the outcome improves. This is a path to success with collaborations as well. We can listen to data. We can listen to stakeholders too.
