Species interactions dictate how community dynamics affect coevolutionary dynamics and vice versa. Yet interspecific interactions are notoriously difficult to classify. This greatly limits our ability to understand, among other things, the dynamics of complex communities over short versus long time scales and how coevolution might impact community structure by altering the strengths and types of interactions among resident species over time. This talk will propose ways to depict species interactions that allow flexible coupling of community and coevolutionary dynamics over any time scale.
