This workshop will discuss data management concepts and practices. We will include discussion of data formats, standardization, pros and cons of formats, data curation and versioning, and archiving best practices. Discussion of metadata about the data and methods for collecting and storing metadata. Many tools and models for sharing data have emerged over the last several years and we will talk about the pros and cons of using databases, web portals, ftp sites, and of different data sharing policies. In addition, we will brainstorm with the participants to define opportunities to utilize mobile technology to improve data taking. We will also brainstorm on ways to more easily connect publications to the underlying data and the personnel who took the data. Join the AmeriFlux Network Management team for this workshop. Lunch is not included.
