WK 30
Your Teaching Resource & ESA’s EcoEd Digital Library
This session will provide participants with a hands-on opportunity to submit their own ecology teaching resource to ESA’s EcoEd Digital Library (beta). EcoEdDL is a peer-reviewed online digital commons where ecology educators can share the unique resources they have developed for teaching with the ecology education community. The library provides free access to high-quality teaching resources that have been peer-reviewed for scientific accuracy and instructional value. Participants will be guided on developing useful metadata and descriptive information, the peer review process, and ways to continue supporting one another as educators using EcoEdDL’s interactive site tools and features. Emphasis will be placed on developing quality digital library resources, and on EcoEdDL’s role in fostering a community of ecology educators and researchers.
Participants will then have the opportunity to access the EcoEdDL site to submit one of their own teaching resources for review and publication in the digital library, with guidance from session organizers. Resources should be related to ecology and/or biology and fall under the following categories: learning activities for the classroom, lab and field; course syllabi; graphs, charts, and tables; and photographs and illustrations. If possible, attendees should bring their own laptop to participate in this session.
