ESA Diversity Luncheon

Thursday, August 8, 2013: 11:30 AM-1:15 PM
Blrm A, Hilton Minneapolis
Diversity is more than skin deep: Building authentically diverse scientific communities Science benefits from diverse perspectives based on myriad factors, including: cultural contexts, social norms, educational backgrounds, academic experiences, learning styles, personal values, individual characteristics, and unique personalities. ESA aims to broaden the diversity discussion by spotlighting the intellectual and social richness that comes from welcoming people with disabilities, nontraditional students, veterans, and the LGBT community. Please join Julie Reynolds, ESA’s VP for Education and Human Resources, at the ESA Diversity Luncheon for a conversation with panelists from these communities about the value of diversity to science. Panelists will share their personal experiences and ideas on why it is important for ESA to help create an authentically diverse and thriving community of scientists for the 21st century. TK 5 $25
