Trees can store large amounts of carbon reserves, yet we still have a poor understanding of their function and importance. In this presentation, we will explore how NSC reserve status before and after herbivory can affect tree survival.  We discuss how tree size and life history strategy, location of reserves, and herbivore behavior might be important for understanding how storage helps trees cope with herbivory.
