CANCELLED - A Tour of Yolo County Restoration Sites

Yolo County has been at the forefront of ecological restoration in the western United States for decades.  We will visit a series of restoration sites than span the diversity of this work across a variety of restoration goals and techniques, spatial scales, and social and land-use contexts. Local experts will meet us a points along the way, and your group leader will fill in the blanks during the (short) drives between sites. 1) Yolo Bypass: reconciling multiple goals in a large-scale restoration site. 2) Hedgerow Farms: links between agriculture and restoration, including native seed production and on-farm restoration opportunities. 3) Lunch in Winters: terraforming an urban floodplain. 4) Yolo Audubon and the Center for Land-based Learning: involving local landowners, communities, and students in restoration. 5) UC Davis Putah Creek Riparian Reserve: reversing type conversion in California's Central Valley and examples of local restoration research.  Box lunch provided. Pick-up and drop-off at Sacramento Convention Center.
