View Sunset Emergence of a Large Colony of Mexican Freetailed Bats from Under the Sacramento I80 Causeway

 Following a 45 minute indoor presentation on bat natural history, the group will carpool out to the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area to watch one of the largest colonies of Mexican free-tailed bats in California as it emerges in large ribbons to hunt insects at sunset. To get to the bat viewing site, we will travel through leased rice farming fields to an area not open to the public. The whole experience takes about 3 hours. This is a family friendly event! There is a small amount of walking. Those in wheelchairs or unable to walk may view the bats by car. .

Registration Fee: $54

Equipment and Attire: casual clothes; take light jacket or shirt in case it gets cool while viewing the bats.

Itinerary: 6:15PM leave Convention Center 6:40PM arrive at the Yolo Basin Foundation Office and Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area Headquarters,45211 County Road 32B (Chiles Road)< Davis, CA 95616 9:30PM leave to return to Convention Center 10:00PM arrive at Convention Center
