Developing Environmental Leaders: Perspectives from Graduate to Mid-career Leadership Programs

Monday, August 11, 2014: 8:00 PM-10:00 PM
Tofanell, Sheraton Hotel
Organizer:
Kate Knuth, University of Minnesota
Co-organizers:
Margaret Krebs, Stanford University; and Pam Sturner, Stanford University
This session will ask what kinds of training scientists need to develop into more effective leaders and offer perspectives from established training programs at the graduate, post-doctoral and mid-career level. What skills are needed, and in what contexts can developing leaders best learn? What are similarities and differences among leadership development at different stages of a person’s career? Join us for what will surely be a thought-provoking and interactive conversation.   Be ready to offer your own perspective on leadership development. The session will be a mix of sharing from leadership development professionals and group exercises to get you thinking about how your own leadership has developed and how you can help develop leadership in the people around you.
