Ferrum College’s Environmental Sciences program requires that every student complete a 400 plus hour internship. To facilitate this, each student enrolls in a course called Professional Preparation to enable the student to research and find the appropriate internship.  Resume writing, inquiry letters, application letters, mock interviews and internship contracts are all part of the course topics and assignments with the common goal for instructor and student to have secured that internship. Faculty supervisors interact with students and supervisors at the site of the internship.  Students keep a daily journal and write a reflective paper upon completion of the internship.
