Just beyond the parking lot, as you walk to your car, you may notice the tall crowns of mature trees that have seen a century of freshman classes come and go. The small forest has furnished the raw materials for fruitful undergraduate and graduate theses, and opened many young eyes to the wonder of ecological science. But all this seems abstract and intangible . . . new football stadium, anyone?
