The Notes from Nature online tool and its applications for inventorying biodiversity specimen data

The explosion of interest in citizen science approaches in the ecological realm has often focused on efforts in the field,  exemplified by projects such as eBird and iNaturalist.  As exciting is citizen science work on existing data sources, the focus of this lightening talk.  I will quickly introduce Zooniverse's Notes from Nature citizen science project, which asks interested public participants to transcribe museum ledgers and labels, while also providing a chance for making discoveries about biodiversity currently hidden in the amazing natural history collections across the world.  I close showing how these data feed into assessments of inventory completeness.
