Large quantities of ecological and environmental data are increasingly available for modeling and understanding ecological systems. Getting the most out of this data requires computational and analysis skills that most ecologists lack. I will discuss how to facilitate data-intensive research in ecology through a combination of training ecologists in the appropriate tools, including computational personnel in research labs, and collaboratively developing tools to make working with data easier.
