Leah A. Wasser, Education and Public Engagement / Data Products, NEON, Inc., Boulder, CO
In the fall of 2015, NEON, in collaboration with Data Carpentry, SESYNC and IPLANT brought a group of 18, scientists / data enthusiasts together to build spatio-temporal data lessons. These tutorials which have been taught at several institutions around the world, and associated free teaching data subsets, are now available on NEONdataskills.org - a free, open online, collection of tutorials that demonstrate the use of open, non-gui tools to work with spatio-temporal data. In this presentation, we will review the many benefits and also challenges associated with community driven resource development.
