Despite its frequent use, ecologists often have limited conceptions of the meaning of the term “science policy” - especially when it comes to defining opportunities to engage in, and train for, such work. In reality, like any other discipline science policy is a diverse field that offers diverse opportunities for engagement including through fellowships and many other pathways. The speaker will discuss the science-policy nexus from the joint perspective of a former Knauss Fellow and of managing an interdisciplinary program to conduct research in one area of science policy: informing decisions and producing usable science.
