Attaining a policy perspective, as a graduate student does not require advocacy, it requires awareness.  This greater awareness connects the work we do as researchers to the bigger picture of our society with respect to the decisions made that impact humans and nature.  The benefits of gaining a policy perspective at the graduate level will be presented along with how students can take advantage of policy opportunities within ESA and in their own early professional careers.
