Let’s dance science! This workshop is intended to explore how the repetition, engagement, and interactive fun of folk dance can be used for science communication and outreach.

Participants will learn the basic steps of contra, an American folk dance. Experienced science-dancers will lead several dances designed to teach topics in plant science, followed by discussion and reflection on the experience. Folk dances involve simple, easy-to-learn steps that are repeated to music, making them accessible to nearly all ages and skill levels. Be prepared to stomp, spin, and laugh— while learning the basics of photosynthesis.

Comfortable shoes are highly recommended. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Registration Fee: $0
