Closing the feedback loop: Engaging stakeholders in coproduction of climate science information

Lack of coproduction with end-users is arguably one of the reasons why much scientific information and resulting decision support systems are not very usable. Coproduction is an important strategy for engaging diverse stakeholders in addressing complex challenges associated with climate change. Increasingly, public agencies and academic institutions are emphasizing the importance of coproduction of scientific knowledge and decision support systems. Despite the many potential benefits of coproduction, it can be challenging to implement. Here, we discuss Climate Hub efforts to close the feedback loop between scientists, federal agencies, and land managers in order to reduce climate risks on managed landscapes.
