Using screencasts effectively for online instruction

Screencasts are digital recordings of computer activity and are an effective education tool that offer great versatility. Instructional applications include step-by-step tutorials, demonstrations and narrated presentations and screencasts can be augmented with photos, videos and music to create a sophisticated multimedia, engaging learning experience.  With so many options available, sometimes scaling back can be the best approach and we demonstrate how to set about creating a simple, targeted screencast for use in online learning.
