Multiple climate and weather data sets exist to support decision-making among farm, forest, and livestock managers, but they exist across multiple platforms and often at inappropriate spatial and temporal scales. SERCH LIGHTS is a free product that monitors and integrates climate and weather data into a simple, Geospecific email alert, providing information only when climate and weather conditions pass an identified threshold. Alerts topic include drought, fire weather, pests, and heat stress. In summer of 2016, a subscription campaign was conducted to test the concept. Find out what we learned about using Cooperative Extension and USDA networks for climate communication.
